Louise MAUGER

The artworks of Louise Mauger offer fine nuances of transparencies, textures and overlaps of paint matter. Her art practice, essentially built on intuitive notions, studies and explores the behavior of colour and its optical density. Mauger’s ambitious compositions of vaporous and vibrant forms are energetic and expressive. They are the celebration of a spontaneous, intuitive moment of existence.

Originally from Grande-Rivière in Gaspésie, Louise Mauger lives and works in Sherbrooke since 2017. She has a specialized formation in anthropology from l’Université Laval (1989 to 1994) as well as diverse formations in engraving, screen printing, graphic design, and bookbinding (since 1985). Her Fine Bindings are in many public and private collections, notably the Heritage Collection at the National Library of Quebec. Mauger has a solid reputation in Fine Binding, museology and curating since 1995. In 2017, she dedicates herself entirely at her visual creation, and her artworks have been presented in more than twenty individual and group exhibitions in Quebec, France, Belgium and the United States.
